More than 100 San Clemente residents attended Farmer's and Merchants grand opening celebration Thursday at their new branch at 621 N. El Camino Real.

"San Clemente is a wonderful extension of what we're trying to do at Farmers and Merchants," said Board Chairman Daniel Walker. "One of the most important parts of the building we're opening today is that we have established our permanent position in San Clemente."
The grand opening featured catered hors d'oeuvres, a non-alcoholic "martini bar" and colorfully tiered dessert platters.
"We are expecting about 200 guests that range from our current customers who reside in San Clemente and local people around the area," said Vice President Branch Manager Ada Baker.
"Our San Clemente branch has been open since 2006, and you can't get a better town to work with than San Clemente.
Farmers and Merchants bank was previously located off Avenida Palizada and El Camino Real.
"What they have done with this building is spectacular," said Mayor Pro Tem Jim Evert. "From San Clemente's point of view, we're always pleased when any business comes in and makes improvements to the city."
The building's has a Spanish style design. The walls inside feature works by local artists inside.
